Graduate Student Appreciation Week
Join us for a week of events celebrating graduate students at Sam Houston State University. Graduate Student Appreciation Week (GSAW) features activities that recognize your contributions to our academic community while offering opportunities to connect, grow, and recharge.
Each spring, we celebrate the contributions and accomplishments of more than 3,000 graduate students at Sam Houston State University, representing over 60 master’s and 10 doctoral programs. Throughout the week, a variety of programs and events are hosted to support your academic, professional, and personal success.

Monday, April 13
Breakfast at the Plaza
Kick off Graduate Student Appreciation Week with a casual breakfast at the plaza. Start your morning with food, conversation, and a chance to connect with fellow graduate students in a relaxed, welcoming environment.
TGPS Open House
Stop by TGPS to meet the staff, explore available resources, and take a guided look at the spaces and services designed to support your success. This is a great opportunity to get familiar with the Graduate & Professional School and learn how we support graduate students throughout their journey.
Grad Talks Finals
Attend the final round of Grad Talks, where graduate students present their research and ideas in a dynamic, engaging format. Support your peers, gain insight into innovative work across disciplines, and celebrate academic excellence at SHSU.

Graduate Research Showcase
Experience a university-wide showcase of graduate research featuring poster and oral presentations from students across disciplines. Attendees can engage with presenters, explore diverse research topics, and witness the impact of graduate scholarship. Select presentations will be recognized with awards and scholarships.

Take a break and recharge with snacks and refreshments while connecting with campus partners. Learn more about the resources and services available to support your academic and personal success, all in a relaxed, come-and-go setting.

Refuel your afternoon with light refreshments and connect with additional campus resources. This drop-in experience is designed to help you recharge, de-stress, and discover support services available to graduate students.

Professional Headshots Register
Update your professional presence with a free, high-quality headshot. Harriet McHale and Joe Palma will be providing photos with instant access, making it easy to enhance your LinkedIn profile, portfolio, or professional materials.

GSAW Close-Out Social
Wrap up the week with games, giveaways, and great company. Enjoy snacks and drinks while celebrating with fellow graduate students in a fun, casual atmosphere outside TGPS.
